Faith | 40 Day Fast No Food Pt. 2

I said I'd do a part 2 to my no food fast, and here it goes. The fact that I fasted for 40 days seemed foreign to others, and even myself at one point. I thought surely that's only something Jesus and Moses could do. It's no surprise that we believe we cannot do as they did as though they were not human just like us. But what made them different was their belief and the fact that the Spirit of the Lord dwelt in them. But does scripture not tell us that anyone who acknowledges Jesus is the Son of God has this same Spirit, also known as the Holy Spirit? Did Not Jesus tell his disciples they would do greater things than he because he went to be with his Father and would leave a comforter for us?

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

John 14:12

Before I was reunited with Jesus Christ, it never dawned on me that most Christians don't really believe in their Lord and Savior. In fact, most don't want to believe because then that would mean they would have to pick up their cross and follow him. There is no way you can believe and not obey his command. It's simply cause and effect. So although many claim they follow Christ and/or are willing to be in the faith, all that sounds good until they realize that means you have to leave the world behind. Scripture tells us not to be lovers of the world. Reason being, the world is full of lust and pride. Everyone is trying to keep up with the jones', chasing a bag, or fulfilling their selfish ambitions and desires. This isn't to say money is the root of all evil but that those who worship money are rooted in evil. All this keeps us away from purpose. When money is the focus, service gets shelved. Our motives are off. Instead of loving one another, we use each other and that's not God's way.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

1 John 2:15

Here's why it's called a faith walk. You have to understand that God wants to and WILL prosper you but it won't be according to your will because it is NOT for your glory. There is a humbling and circumcision of the heart you must go through before you enter into His promises (promise land). This means He's going to strip you of all your idols, and if you don't know what an idol is it's the things/people that you place before Him. You can either surrender them willingly or be prepared to have them snatched! I'd suggest the latter. On one hand, to do this you have to trust God to care for the people and things you love the most AND in doing so, you show Yah you love Him more than the gifts He's given (the people, places, things). On the other, you have to be okay looking like s fool and hitting ground zero which means you cannot care what people think of you. That's a tough reality check not many are ready for. They seem to love the gifts more than the gift giver, and they care greatly how others perceive them. Sadly, that my friends is what keeps us disconnected from God. So now it should make sense why most don't want to believe. It would mean a whole new life and the possibility of being seen starting from the bottom. And let's not forget the big bag wolf, also known as the UNKNOWN! We cannot fathom not knowing it all and not being in control. I said all that to say, prayer and fasting is the only way I am aware of that can break these strongholds. It not only draws us nearer to God in spirit and truth aligning us to His purpose and will, it strengthens our belief. Here is why many pray but not all fast. Not all want to believe. Not all want to surrender their current life for a new one. Not all believe they need a new life, some are happy with the way things are, some are so distracted with their toys they don't care to have relationship with Yah. But these same people will claim to be of the faith, or Christians. Here's my challenge to those people. If you believe in Christ, you will obey his command.

"And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days."

Mark 2: 19-20
