Healthy Eats | Rice Cake Protein Snack So Good!

Did you know we not only need protein to build muscle but also for healthy hair, nails and skin? Not many may consider this when they experience brittle hair, nails and outbreaks (acne). Few ever ask themselves am I getting enough protein. So are you? Protein does not have to be this exhaustive conversation that only fitness lovers, doctors, nutritionist and personal trainers talk about. We should also be having these conversations at the dinner table with the people we love because let's face it, when you look good, you feel good. Protein is an aspect of overall health and quality of life. If you want your loved ones, yourself included, to live longer and better you'll not only talk about it, you'll introduce them to new ways to consume it. Today we uncover the peanut butter rice cake, one of my all time favorite protein snacks.

Peanut Butter So Good!

How many times have you heard peanut butter is a great source of protein? I personally, can't count how many times I have. This statement is still up for debate, but one thing that is undeniable is the amount of protein in each serving of peanut butter. Nutritional facts reveal between 7-9 grams per serving and between 180-200 calories depending on the brand. If you know anything about macros (macronutrients) and counting calories, you understand the quality of just this one ingredient. Whether you're adding it to your smoothie or making a snack with it, (if your are not allergic), peanut butter can maximize your treat.

Rice Cake So Good!

What's healthier than a rice cake?! lol. I had no idea they are as delicious as they are until I moved to Los Angeles and was looking for more ways to eat peanut butter. Go figure! I won't bore you with the nutritional facts but just know, you cannot go wrong with a rice cake (unless your are allergic to soy in which case you purchase non-soy products). They come in many flavors, my personal favorite is caramel and apple cinnamon, and are no more than 150 calories. With peanut butter, this healthy snack is less than 400 calories total, but honestly I don't stop there. If you are on a calorific deficit (weight loss) you may want to.

Waiting until it breaks down to service it could cost your more in the long run with prescriptions, doctor visits, over the counter remedies and or hospital stays. The goal should always be to have a higher quality of life. To top it off, this lifestyle does not have to be boring, and the food does not have to be bland.
